Secondhand Wardrobe Week

Used clothing stores offer a wide range of goods, from barely-worn designer wear to items that have already seen too much wear. They also attract all sorts of people–from fashionistas to those who are barely able to pay the bills. Unfortunately, many people have a distorted idea about secondhand stores, believing them to be scary places where all of the clothing is worn-out and the shoppers are desperate. The purpose of Secondhand Wardrobe Week is to eradicate the negative feelings that are associated with used clothing. The holiday was founded by Cheryl Gorn in 2006 as Secondhand Wardrobe Day. Although it has expanded to become an entire week, the official description has stayed the same.

A secondhand wardrobe can help people feel great about their appearance, their finances and their impact on the planet. Secondhand Wardrobe Week was created to remove the stigma that is associated with buying and wearing previously owned clothing.
